IJL 2012

It's been a wonderful start to the year and Sian Bostwick Jewellery is going from strength to strength so I’ve gone and booked my stand for IJL (internationaljewellery London) 2012.

it's a fabulous stand (bigger than last year) in prime position in the design gallery of THE jewellery trade show.

I'm really looking forward to showing my new collections in my mini jewellery boudoir to lovely new and old jewellery peoples.

Goldsmith craft and design

It’s been a busy busy week since returning from my time off earlier in the month and at the begining of last week I remembered it was the hand in day for Goldsmith craft and design awards on Friday. So i did some very quick paintings of sketches I had planned out before I went away and here we are with 2 entries for the fine jewellery design category deliverd last friday.

The first is based on goblins and the dark forest they inhabit, the tricksy goblins try to steal away a large gemstone form the twisted tree.

A bracelet design based on Neil Gaimens Stardust, one of my favourite tales. Featuring diamond stars, a large topaz stare and fine white gold detail.

Now I just have to wait and see with my fingers crossed, even if I don’t get anything I always really enjoy the painting and seeing exhibition which really show the best and most wonderful jewellery and sliversmithing at the moment.

Perry wood

Went for a walk in Perry wood, faversham yesterday, a bit chilly but wonderful. My first trip of the year since returning to the workshop on Friday and I needed some clam inspiration before diving into the pile of orders, tax returns and work awaiting in the workshop. Lots of pretty views and things which have got my mind buzzing and my hand sketching and of course finished the walk off with a nice pub lunch mmmmmm.

Heading back to the workshop today and back to work after my break away with my tiny and perfect new neice. All my online shops including my Etsy & Folksy stores are open once again hurahhh

A lovely feature in Make jewellery magazine in the 5 minute designer interview feature.

Its a really lovely feature with some great photos and really nicely styled, I’m really excited by the great start to the year.

Merry Christmas and happy new year to all my wonderful fans, friends and readers. I hope you all have a wonderfully festive time and hopefully find some jewellery under your tree or in your christmas stocking, eat to much and enjoy the time off.

I am off to visit family until mid january and have a bit of time away from the workshop and make some rather exciting plans for next year. New stockists, exhibition, events and a collection are all to come in the new year so keep your eyes peeled.
The Sian Bostwick jewellert shops on Folksy, Etsy and seek & Adore we be cloased until i return to the workshop but never fear pretty jewellery can still be seen at all my stockist retail shops (a full list of stockist can be seen on the website)

Nucleus showcase

Just installed a very pretty selection of my one off peices in the Nucleus showcase at the Nucleus arts center, chatham. The showcase will run for 1 month and features some of my totaly unique and one off jewellery peices created in my worhop at the art centre.
Most of these pieces are not available online or anywhere else so come along and take a peek or you need a very last minute christmas present or just want some beautifl jewellery.

latest commision using a lovely labrodite & square and rectangle peices. It's a bit different for me but i love how it is turning out, thee layers of ganules and form is really attractive, i may even do more like it.
i just hope the recepiant love it as much as i do.

i still need to finish up and set the stone then neaten everything to make it sparkle and shine but i'm very pleased yay!!.

UCA case studies

A few weeks ago I was asked by UCA (university for thecreative arts) my former university from which I graduated from BA Silversmithing and jewellery in 2009 to be one of there case studies for prospective students.

The case studies are to show prospective students and young people the kind of careers they can have in the creative sector and what former students of UCA have gone on to do.

I was really honoured to be selected for the case studies which showcases the successes of UCA alumni. The case studies are used in a brochure and presentations at the various campuses.

Some snapshots of Monica’s vintage fair on Saturday it was fabulous and I’d defiantly go back but with more spare cash to buy lovely vintage dresses. Tea & cake in mismatched vintage tea sets, lovely vintage and reproduction clothes (rather cruelly tempting I think!!) plus other lovely stalls including mine of course.

Sian Bostwick Jewellery was in prime position in the tea room so in between chatting about jewellery I could listen to the lovely lady from swing time sweethearts and spy the cakes.

Poppy commision

I have actually remembered to photograph another commission, I need to do this more! This one is a pair of very nice poppy pins for Remembrance Day made from sterling silver, red anodised aluminium and some pure black onyx stones all brought together for some simple, understated and elegant Poppy pins.

Maybe I should think about introducing them for next November in a collaboration with some organisations hmmmmmmmmm? Plans afoot I think.

The lovely boutique is the first place to stock the wildflower stacking rings which feature wild rose, Pansy, Trillium, Dames rocket and Protea flower in silver which can be worn individually or mixed and matched up together or with the forget me not ring for colour to create a unique and beautiful look.

A fun day had a business week live today in Dover. Thanks to The Kent foundation for young entrepreneurs the for my fab banner ( Very pretty and useful indeed) and giving 4 of us Kent young business people the chance to show are showcase ourselves. Great day chatting to people and networking, looking forward to meeting you all again.

Today was lovely photoshot day with photographer Katie Blench, fabulous stylist Bettina Scarlet and model Alice Viner. A wonderful of day dressing up with lovely dresses, really cute vintage/picnic/wonderland scenes plus very pretty (and tasty) cupcakes take a sneak peak at some of the behind the seens pics, the stunning final pictures can bee seen soon yay!!
